IOC provisionally lifts suspension of Russian Olympic Committee
The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has provisionally lifted the suspension imposed on the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), which had been in place since Oct. 12, 2023.
The IOC said the decision followed a comprehensive review by its Legal Affairs Commission, which concluded that the ROC no longer includes regional sports organisations located in territories under the jurisdiction of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the IOC, the Russian Olympic Committee also confirmed that it neither conducts nor intends to conduct any activities in those territories.
The IOC Executive Board said it will continue to closely monitor the situation and any activities undertaken by the ROC in the affected territories, adding that it reserves the right to introduce further measures if necessary.
