Iran denies US election hacking claims as “unsubstantiated”
The Iranian mission issued a statement addressing claims made by American intelligence and cyber agencies.
The statement dismissed these allegations as unfounded and lacking credibility, reiterating Iran's position that it has no intention or motive to interfere in the US presidential election, Caliber.Az reports per Iranian media.
The Iranian mission challenged the US government to provide evidence if it genuinely believes in these claims, stating that they would respond accordingly.
This comes in response to a joint statement from the FBI and other US intelligence agencies, which accused Iran of hacking into the campaign of Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential election, as well as attempting to hack Kamala Harris's campaign, the Democratic candidate.
Last week, the Iranian mission in New York refuted a report from an American digital newspaper that alleged access to documents about Iran's involvement in hacking the Trump campaign
Iran's statement further clarified that it has no plans or objectives to conduct cyberattacks, stressing that the American election is a domestic matter and Iran is not involved. Recently, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the UN has issued multiple statements denouncing accusations of involvement in US election hacking or alleged shooting incidents during Trump’s rallies, labeling such claims as “absurd, baseless, and biased.”
