Iran moves forward with Russia, China, rejects US pressure in nuclear talks
Talks with the United States will not be possible as long as the Maximum Pressure campaign is in effect, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated.
During a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in Tehran, Iranian top diplomat emphasized that "Iran and Russia regularly continue consultations on issues of mutual interests," Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.
Addressing other matters, Araghchi announced that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting, which Iran had requested, would soon be convened to discuss the "Zionist regime's atrocities in Gaza."
"Iran will continue to support the Axis of Resistance in the region as always," he affirmed.
"Iran will never hold talks with the US under pressure on the nuclear issue," he reiterated, stressing that as long as the US continues its Maximum Pressure campaign against Iran, direct talks will be impossible.
"We will move forward and coordinate our actions and positions on the Iranian nuclear issue in cooperation with our friends in Russia and China," he further added.
Araghchi also conveyed Iran’s commitment to peace and security in the Caucasus region, noting that Iran-Russia consultations on Afghanistan would persist.
Lavrov, for his part, remarked that in the meeting prior to the press conference, "We emphasized the unacceptability of unilateral sanctions and coordinated action to tackle the impact of these sanctions on both countries."
