Iran's naval ships to be equipped with cruise missiles PHOTOS
Iranian frigates belonging to the "Muj" class will receive an upgrade by being equipped with domestic sea cruise missiles.
According to the Iranian Tur Def, the Iranian Navy Commander Admiral Shahram Irani announced this, stating that the missile power of the Iranian Navy has doubled.
He added that the domestic "air-to-ground" destroyers will be deployed on the high seas for the first time, with eight cruise missiles to be mounted now.
The cruise missile, belonging to the "Abu Mahdi" class (full name "The Shahid Abu Mahdi al-Muhadis missile") is an Iranian naval cruise missile possessing a range of over 1,000 km. The missile will allow tripling the range of the Navy when compared to the other Iranian missiles "Raad" and "Qadir", which can fly ranges of 350 and 300 km respectively.
The missile is powered by a turbojet engine belonging to the "Tolou" family, which is also built in the "Nur", "Kader" and "Kadir" missiles.
