Iraq welcomes Turkish investment in national economy
Iraq has expressed satisfaction with the participation of Turkish investment companies in major national projects, particularly the “Development Road” initiative.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the “Türkiye–Iraq Mutual Trade and Contracting Program and B2B Consultation Forum” held in Baghdad, Iraqi Trade Minister Atheer Dawood Salman Al Ghurairi noted that his country is undergoing a radical economic transformation toward a free-market policy and underlined that its successful implementation requires cooperation between the two countries and Türkiye’s active investments in Iraq, Anadolu reports.
Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat also attended the event.
Salman reminded that during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Iraq last year, Ankara and Baghdad signed bilateral memoranda of understanding to establish a joint economic and trade commission, adding that all provisions of those documents have already been fulfilled.
He expressed gratitude to Türkiye for its active role and participation in the International Fair of Baghdad.
The minister also noted that Iraq has taken part in many exhibitions in Türkiye, reflecting the strong commitment of both sides to developing mutually beneficial economic cooperation
