Israeli ambassador praises Azerbaijan’s mediation in Türkiye –Syria talks
Israel’s newly appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ronen Krausz, has expressed gratitude to Baku for its diplomatic efforts in facilitating dialogue between Türkiye and Syria, describing Azerbaijan’s role as constructive and commendable.
“First of all, this is an opportunity to thank Azerbaijan for its efforts to bring the parties together. These efforts have been quite successful and are highly valued by Israel. We hope that such initiatives will continue in the future,” Krausz stated, highlighting Azerbaijan’s growing influence as a regional mediator, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The ambassador’s remarks come amid broader efforts by Israel to strengthen regional security and expand diplomatic engagement with its neighbors. Krausz emphasized Israel’s interest in improving relations with both Türkiye and Syria, noting that talks are currently underway with Damascus on potential security arrangements.
“I hope that in the future, Israel’s relations with Syria and Türkiye will reach the best possible level. Negotiations are ongoing with Syria regarding a certain security agreement. People in Azerbaijan understand and respect the essence of stability and security. The same applies to Israel,” he noted.
Krausz also referenced Israel’s existing peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan, as well as the Abraham Accords, as examples of successful diplomacy in the region. He expressed optimism that further progress could be made, particularly in negotiations with Lebanon.
“We hope that in the future we can expand the circle of stability around us. We have peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan. We also achieved the Abraham Accords. Negotiations with Syria are underway, and we are hopeful for progress with Lebanon as well,” he said.
Touching on regional security concerns, Krausz described the potential elimination of Hezbollah as a positive development, saying it would contribute significantly to Israel’s long-term security. “The elimination of a harmful organization like Hezbollah would be a positive sign. We hope that Israel’s security will improve in the future,” he concluded.
