Israeli politician slams Dutch Parliament for one-sided approach to Azerbaijan
In an article for Israel Hayom, Ayoob Kara, former Israeli Minister of Communications, Cyber and Satellite argues that the UN General Assembly is not alone in its biased handling of international conflicts.
“The UN General Assembly is not the only one to have a one-sided approach to conflicts in the world. The Netherlands Parliament set out a program that includes an International Security Chapter, which, while mentioning the escalated conflicts, labels the liberation of Azerbaijani territories as the "takeover of Nagorno-Karabakh." The infamous resolution also accuses Azerbaijan of engaging in "ethnic cleansing and damage to cultural heritage," the article says, Caliber.Az reports.
Kara notes that the Azerbaijani Parliament has condemned this resolution as a "racist political act," emphasizing that such a document emerges at a critical time when peace negotiations with Armenia are progressing. The Azerbaijani lawmakers express disappointment that Dutch MPs failed to advocate for Azerbaijan during the 30 years of occupation, instead appearing to support the occupiers.
The Western Azerbaijan Community echoed these sentiments, criticizing the Dutch Parliament for ignoring the suffering of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia and for the destruction of Azerbaijani cultural heritage. They call for an end to the Netherlands' biased actions and urge support for the return of displaced Azerbaijanis.
Additionally, the Netherlands recently issued a statement regarding a UN General Assembly resolution against Israel, expressing concern for the humanitarian situation in Gaza while abstaining from a vote due to ambiguity around a ceasefire and the omission of Hamas' attacks. Kara concludes that both the UN General Assembly and the Netherlands are impeding conflict resolution globally with their one-sided approaches.
