Israeli president meets Azerbaijan's mountain Jews PHOTO
Israeli President Isaac Herzog has received members of the community of mountain Jews at the presidential residence in Tel Aviv.
At the meeting, the chairman of the All-Israeli Association of Mountain Jews of Caucasian Origin Pavel Ilizarov spoke about the activities of the association led by him and drew attention to the organisation's plans to further expand Azerbaijani-Israeli relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Diaspora website.
The Israeli president expressed satisfaction with the meeting held in a friendly atmosphere and stressed that he was well acquainted with the history of the mountain Jews. He highly appreciated the activities of the House of Azerbaijan in Israel and the active participation of the All-Israeli Association of Mountain Jews of Caucasian Origin in the campaign "Justice for Khojaly" and thanked for the issues raised.
The Israeli president noted that he will pay a visit to Azerbaijan in the near future.
"I feel with all my heart that the Azerbaijani people and the government treat Jews more friendly, brotherly," Isaac Herzog said.
