A mosque has been constructed in the village of Dashalty in the Shusha district, designed in the distinctive Karabakh architectural style.
Ismayil Ismayilov, an advisor to the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, said that the mosque adheres to the traditions of the Karabakh architectural school, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to him, Dashalty is one of the restored settlements, and in addition to several infrastructure projects, a mosque has been built for conducting prayers.
Located in the centre of the village, the mosque is designed in a national architectural style. The two-minaret mosque, with its overall architectural composition, layout, and artistic and decorative features, reflects the traditions of Karabakh architecture. The minarets, each 22.5 metres tall, were designed based on the form of the Yukhari Govhar Agha. The two-story mosque will accommodate more than 150 people for prayers simultaneously.
Ismayilov further noted that the foundation of the mosque was laid in November 2021 by President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva..
"The construction of the mosque in the village of Dashalty is being carried out in accordance with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev on the restoration and construction of new monuments of material and cultural heritage and religious buildings in the liberated territories. The restoration of mosques destroyed during the occupation and the construction of new religious centres demonstrate the attention of the Azerbaijani state to the national and spiritual values of our people, as well as to our cultural and historical heritage."
In addition to the mosque, Dashalty village is set to see further development. A five-story hotel complex with 80 rooms, cottages, and various public and commercial buildings, including an information centre, exhibition hall, and workshop, will be constructed on the village’s 65-hectare land. These projects are expected to attract tourists to the village, further enhancing the region's development.
