Karabakh University strengthens ties with Chinese universities
Karabakh University, located in Azerbaijan’s Khankendi region, is building closer academic ties with Chinese universities as part of the 2024 University Alliance of the Belt and Road (UAB&R) forum.
During his recent visit to China, Shahin Bayramov, the rector of Karabakh University, held discussions with representatives from several leading institutions, including Lanzhou University, Northwest Normal University, and Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The meetings focused on exploring collaboration opportunities across various academic fields. Discussions included potential exchange programs, joint research projects, and strategies for expanding academic activities between Karabakh University and its Chinese counterparts.
To recall, on November 28, 2023, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree to establish the Karabakh University under the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi. The university’s ultimate task is to meet the region's socio-economic needs by providing highly qualified professionals and preserving the historically existing educational traditions in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
The Khankendi region was liberated from Armenian separatists and military formations in one-day anti-terror measures from September 19-20, 2023. In October, President Aliyev hoisted the state flag of Azerbaijan in the city.
