Kazakhstan expels over 1,700 illegal immigrants in major crackdown
Kazakhstan has expelled more than 1,700 illegal immigrants involved in unauthorized employment over the course of several days.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that these actions were part of the second phase of the operational-preventive campaign titled “Illegal Immigrant-2025,” conducted between October 13 and 17. During this period, authorities uncovered a total of 13,061 violations of migration legislation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Of those violations, 9,595 foreign nationals were held accountable, with 1,770 individuals forcibly removed from the country. In addition, 2,759 Kazakhstani citizens faced penalties for breaches of migration laws, alongside 707 employers sanctioned for illegally employing foreign laborers.
The crackdown also led to the initiation of 33 criminal cases related to deliberate illegal border crossings, 394 cases addressing the organization of unlawful migration, and 395 cases concerning repeated infractions of regulations governing the recruitment and use of foreign workers within Kazakhstan.
Authorities conducted thorough inspections involving over 30,000 foreigners and stateless persons, as well as more than 2,000 sites spanning construction areas, marketplaces, farms, and private residences.
