Kazakhstan poised to become drone manufacturing hub for Central Asia
Kazakhstan is set to become a hub for the production of high-tech industrial drones, with Chinese company Yesil Technology leading the initiative, supported by JSC NC KAZAKH INVEST.
The project will involve the construction of a vast 50,000-square-meter production and research zone, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
The new facility will feature several key components, including a battery production shop, a research and development centre focused on innovative technologies, full-cycle machine storage, an aircraft test site, and more.
“The launch of production is expected to create 500 jobs. The total investment will be about $12 million. The products will be supplied to the domestic market as well as to the markets of Central Asian countries,” the company announced.
Yesil Technology, primarily focused on developing communication links for drones and producing finished devices, is aiming to make significant strides in the growing field of the low-altitude economy.
“The low altitude economy, as a new field in the economy, is changing the world's industrial structure due to its unique advantages. Utilizing various types of low-altitude aircraft, it has been effectively applied in many fields, opening up new avenues for economic development. From agriculture and forest protection to logistics, from geodesy to emergency rescue operations, the range of applications of the low-altitude economy is constantly expanding, and its potential is limitless,” said Yerzhan Yelekeev, Chairman of the Management Board of KAZAKH INVEST.
According to the World Federation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, the global market for the low-altitude economy was valued at $318.6 billion in 2024, with projections indicating that this figure will exceed $8.8 trillion by 2050.
