Kremlin says Putin's peace proposal on Ukraine remains in force

24 June 2024 16:54

Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitriy Peskov has said President Vladimir Putin deeply sympathises with the victims of the Ukrainian attack on Sevastopol and the attack in Dagestan.

“Putin is not planning to make a special address yet. The peace proposal that the president voiced earlier remains in force despite the Ukrainian Armed Forces's attack on Sevastopol,” Kommersant quotes Peskov as saying.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, Russia understands "who is behind the barbaric missile attack on Sevastopol".

"We can see perfectly well who is behind this. The President was just last week talking about who is targeting these absolutely technologically complex missiles, and who is ensuring these launches. It's not the Ukrainians. This is where we can turn to you as members of the media. Just ask my colleagues, press secretaries in Europe, first of all in Washington, why their government is killing Russian children," he said during a press conference.

When asked whether Putin's proposal for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine was still in force, the spokesman answered affirmatively: "Yes. The president himself answered such a question, if you remember, he answered it at a press conference in Hanoi, where he explained the timeframe."
