Kremlin signals openness to dialogue with US on Ukraine settlement under Trump
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has indicated that dialogue between Russia and the United States is possible, provided that an administration led by President-elect Donald Trump takes the necessary steps towards resolving the military conflict in Ukraine.
Responding to questions on the matter, Peskov suggested recalling the words of President Vladimir Putin, who has expressed Russia’s willingness for discussions, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
“We are open to dialogue and the discussion of the most challenging issues. So, we shall see. Again, we will judge based on concrete actions,” he stated.
Earlier, Peskov clarified why Putin does not plan to congratulate Donald Trump on his election victory. "Let’s remember that this concerns elections in a country that is unfriendly towards us and involved in the conflict around Ukraine," he emphasized.
Notably, Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the US on November 6, marking an extraordinary comeback for a former president who had refused to accept his defeat four years earlier, incited a violent insurrection at the US Capitol, was convicted on felony charges, and survived two assassination attempts.
