Large-scale drone raid targets energy and civilian sites in Russia's Volgograd
A wave of unmanned aerial vehicle attacks was reported in Russia’s Volgograd Region, with both industrial facilities and residential areas affected.
A factory site in the southern part of Volgograd caught fire, an apartment in a multi-storey building in the city of Volzhsky sustained damage, and one of the drones crashed near a kindergarten.
Governor Andrey Bocharov said that air defence units of the Russian Defence Ministry repelled a large-scale drone assault aimed at energy facilities and civilian infrastructure. He noted that drone debris is being searched for at several locations, while emergency responders and municipal services are working on the ground.
Preliminary information indicates that there were no casualties. At the same time, the full extent of the damage is still being clarified: affected areas are being inspected, and any remaining UAV fragments are being rendered safe.
Earlier reports indicated that the highest number of drones was intercepted over the Volgograd Region, where air defence systems shot down a total of 49 UAVs.
