Largest gold deposit discovered in Russia
A gold deposit of over 100 tonnes has been discovered at Rosatom's Sovinoye deposit, which has become the largest gold deposit discovered in Russia since 1991.
Atomredmetzoloto announced the discovery citing the State Commission for Solid Mineral Reserves of Rosnedra.
It is noted that by now all prospecting, topographic-geodetic, geological-geochemical and geophysical works have been completed. Drilling works were carried out continuously. A total of 123 wells with a total length of more than 32 kilometres have been drilled over three years, the company pointed out.
"Atomredmetzoloto" has invested more than 1 billion roubles to create a mining cluster based on the Sovinoye deposit and the Ryveem and Dor ore fields. By the end of 2028, it is planned to complete construction and launch mining and processing production. The company expects that the deposit will be able to produce 3 tonnes of gold per year from 2029.
