Kazakh grain shipment reaches Armenia via Azerbaijan
The first shipment of Kazakh wheat has successfully arrived in Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, marking a significant step in regional connectivity and cooperation.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, announced that the initial batch of Kazakh wheat—totalling 1,000 tonnes—arrived at the Ayrum railway station.
Khudatyan explained that the route used for the delivery was Kazakhstan–Russia–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Armenia, highlighting that this logistical achievement became possible thanks to the recent agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan as part of the ongoing peace agenda.
Khudatyan also recalled that a few days ago, Russian grain had been delivered to Armenia by rail.
The shipment of Kazakh grain to Armenia via Azerbaijani territory comes amid a gradual thaw in relations between Baku and Yerevan. In a major policy shift announced on 21 October in Astana, President Ilham Aliyev declared the lifting of all cargo transit restrictions to Armenia — measures that had been in place since the years of occupation. The announcement, made alongside Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, signalled Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing the peace agenda and fostering regional connectivity.
