Putin removes senior officials from Russia’s prosecutor general’s office
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree dismissing several senior officials from the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Among those relieved of their duties is Denis Grunis, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General for Special Assignments, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Two deputy heads of the Main Personnel Directorate, Sergei Ivanov and Sergei Orlov, have also been dismissed. In addition, Nikolai Kozyrev, who previously headed the department responsible for physical protection and security, has left the agency.
According to sources, some of the dismissed prosecutors have either taken or plan to take judicial qualification exams, with the intention of continuing their careers alongside former Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, who now serves in the Supreme Court.
The same sources suggested that further dismissals and new appointments within the Prosecutor General’s Office are expected in the near future.
