Lithuania strengthens air defence with new Swedish radar systems
Lithuania is enhancing its air defence capabilities with the acquisition of new-generation SAAB Giraffe X1 radar systems from Sweden, according to the country’s Ministry of Defence.
In a statement posted on X, the Lithuanian Defence Ministry said the mobile 3D radar systems provide “360° coverage, rapid deployment, and improved detection of small aerial threats,” improving the country’s ability to respond to modern air security challenges, Caliber.Az reports.

Officials said the new equipment is intended to strengthen surveillance and early-warning capabilities as part of broader efforts to modernise Lithuania’s defence infrastructure.
The Giraffe X1 systems are designed to improve situational awareness by detecting and tracking a wide range of airborne objects, including low-flying and small targets.
