Lithuanian Seimas discusses renaming of Russia to Moscovia

The Committee of the Future in Lithuanian Seimas (Parliament) has started a discussion about the possible renaming of Russia into Moscovia in the Lithuanian language.

“We call Russia ‘Russia’ because that’s what it calls itself. Taking into account the historical context of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, we will look for a more acceptable and accurate assessment of the country's historical role for Lithuania and the West than the Great Russian narrative that has taken root in the Western mind. Accordingly, we will clarify how best to call the country that we traditionally call Russia: should it be called Russia, or Moscovia, or something else,” chairman of the committee Raimundas Lopata said, according to Verslo zinios.
