Massive train derailment in Russia’s Amur Region halts traffic
A freight train derailment occurred on the Guangzhou-Kudachi section of the Trans-Baikal Railway in the Magdagachinsky municipal district of Russia’s Amur Region, resulting in 35 cars leaving the tracks.
The incident caused damage to railway infrastructure, though authorities confirmed that no ecological hazards have been detected, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Train services on the affected section have been suspended, and passenger schedules are expected to experience delays.
In response, restoration trains and an emergency response team from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Amur Region have been deployed to the site. A coordination headquarters has been established at the ministry’s main office to oversee recovery operations and ensure the safe resumption of rail traffic.
The cause of the derailment has not yet been disclosed, and investigations are underway to assess the full extent of the damage and prevent future incidents.
