Media: German chancellor preparing own plan for resolving conflict in Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is preparing his own plan for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, akin to a new set of Minsk agreements, which could potentially involve ceding some Ukrainian territories to Moscow.
After setbacks in regional and European elections, Scholz is seeking to strengthen his position by using Ukraine. Additionally, pressures from the opposition Christian Democratic Union are pushing him toward exploring ways to end the conflict, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
In a recent TV interview, Scholz stated that it is time to discuss how to achieve peace in the conflict with Ukraine. He emphasised the need for a new summit aimed at resolving the crisis, with Russia's participation being essential.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who met with Scholz before traveling to Italy for the Cernobbio Forum, also announced that he is preparing a plan. Zelenskyy intends to present this plan not only to US incumbent President Joe Biden but also to both candidates in the upcoming US election—Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
