Media: Houthis seize Starlink devices allegedly used for espionage
Yemen’s Houthis have announced the seizure of multiple satellite internet devices linked to the Starlink network in recent days.
According to a source linked to Houthis, these devices were reportedly smuggled into Yemen’s provinces and are suspected of being used for espionage activities on behalf of foreign entities, Caliber.Az reports via SABA.
The Houthi source claimed that the government in Aden "authorised the distribution of these Starlink devices." The devices are believed to have been sold openly in those areas and were being smuggled into liberated territories to “facilitate intelligence operations allegedly connected to American and Israeli interests.”
The agency warned of the risks associated with the use of such prohibited equipment and classified ownership as an espionage offense subject to legal action. Citizens in possession of these devices have been urged to surrender them to the Security and Intelligence Agency promptly.
Authorities also encouraged the public to report any relevant information via the agency’s hotline.
