Media: Restrictions in airspace of St. Petersburg lifted UFO not found
The airspace over St. Petersburg begins to open after being temporarily closed.
According to Telegram channel Baza, an unidentified flying object, which was the reason for the introduction of the "Carpet" plan, has not been detected. According to the channel, the object was initially spotted from the side of the Gulf of Finland, but later was not detected, Gazeta.ru reports.
Earlier, Gazeta.ru reported that an unidentified flying object spotted 160 - 200 km from St. Petersburg.
According to the publication, the Ministry of Defence reported this information through its channels to Pulkovo Airport. According to the procedure, the airport did not accept aircraft and did not give permission to take off. Also, a source close to Smolny confirmed that the sky was closed due to an unidentified flying object.
Referring to the Rosaviatsiya telegram, it is reported that the airspace over Pulkovo is closed until at least 13:20.
On February 28, it became known that the St. Petersburg airport Pulkovo closed due to an unidentified flying object. A plan "Carpet" was introduced on the territory of the airport. It means the requirement for immediate landing or withdrawal of all airplanes from the airport airspace, with the exception of military and rescue aircraft. Such a plan is introduced only in exceptional cases. It was noted that the airspace above the airport was closed within a radius of 200 kilometers.
The government of St. Petersburg reported flight delays at Pulkovo airport amid reports of an unidentified flying object detected in its area.
