MFA: Tehran must punish those responsible for Azerbaijani embassy attack
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement on the occasion of the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The statement said that January 27, 2024 marks one year since the terrorist attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran, APA reports.
"As a result of the terrorist attack, one employee of the embassy was killed and two others sustained various injuries. In view of the serious threat to the lives and security of people following the attack, the embassy staff and their families were evacuated. Following the terrorist attack, many states and international organisations issued statements condemning attacks on diplomatic missions and terrorist acts. On the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on the embassy, we express our deepest condolences to the relatives of our Martyr, reiterate our strong condemnation of this attack and hope that Iran will soon do everything possible to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice," the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the person who committed the terrorist act at the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran will stand trial today.
"The Iranian side regularly informs the Azerbaijani side about the ongoing investigative measures, the first court session in the case of the person who committed a terrorist act is scheduled for January 27, 2024," the statement said.
