Ministry: Ukraine seeks IMF support to drive sustainable economic recovery
The Ukrainian Economy Ministry has announced it is seeking support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to develop a thorough economic recovery strategy aimed at promoting sustained GDP growth.
On June 3, Andriy Yermak, head of the office of the Ukrainian president, arrived in Washington as part of a delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko. The group also includes representatives from the Ministry of Defense, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ukrainian Economy Ministry.
“Ukraine is counting on the IMF’s support in shaping a comprehensive economic recovery strategy that will ensure sustainable GDP growth, the return of the workforce, and a boost in private investment,” the ministry said in a statement posted on its official website. This strategic dialogue occurred during a meeting between Minister Svyrydenko and Alfred Kammer, Director of the IMF’s European Department, in Washington.
“We want to focus on long-term goals — GDP growth, attracting investment, and the return of millions of Ukrainians who are currently outside the economically active sector,” Svyrydenko added.
