More mine-detecting dogs handed to Azerbaijan for contaminated lands PHOTO
The National Agency for Mine Action of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) is increasing the number of mine detection dogs engaged in the cleansing works of the liberated territories for the safe return of former displaced persons.
According to the press service of the agency, 6 more specially trained animals have been deployed to this mission.
Azerbaijan received these trained canines from the Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI), an American organization providing resources and training to landmine-affected countries, including the training and delivery of highly-trained mine detection dogs.
According to MLI's website, 60 animals have already been trained for Azerbaijan, which assisted our country in searching over 32 million square meters of contaminated land since 2005, including in Karabakh and East Zangezur. ANAMA has signed a multi-year partnership effort with the US organization in 2021 for the provision of another 30 dogs within a two-year span.
For anyone who wishes to contribute to Azerbaijan's demining efforts and therefore help bring about the faster return of displaced people to their homelands, you can visit this link and directly donate to the MLI's Azerbaijan program.
