MP: Iran will not negotiate principle of uranium enrichment
Iran is holding discussions with the United States on placing limits on uranium enrichment levels, but is not negotiating the fundamental right to enrich uranium, according to parliamentary commission member Mohsen Zanganeh.
Speaking as cited by Iran International, Zanganeh emphasised that the Islamic Republic does not consider the core issue of enrichment open for negotiation. “The Islamic Republic is not negotiating over ‘the very principle of [uranium] enrichment,’” he said, while confirming that talks with Washington are focused on setting restrictions on the percentage of enrichment.
Zanganeh added that the переговорation process is advancing under “full coordination with the Supreme Leader,” underscoring that Iran’s leadership remains closely involved in the discussions.
He also expressed optimism about the outcome of the talks, stating that he hopes the Islamic Republic will mark a “victory holiday” on Eid al-Ghadir. The holiday, which holds major religious significance in Iran, will be observed on June 4 in 2026.
