Nationalisation of Rosneft assets in Germany "will have legal and economic outcomes" Warning from Kremlin spox
The possible nationalisation of Rosneft's assets in Germany "will have legal and economic consequences", Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.
According to the Kommersant newspaper, he stressed that there were no negotiations between Moscow and Berlin on the issue because communication channels had been "destroyed".
"There are no negotiations between Moscow and Berlin, if you mean at the state or government level, we have no contacts. Nevertheless, the company is of course protecting its interests, using the entire arsenal of legal means at its disposal. This is corporate defence. If the state is capable of doing anything, then of course the state has always protected the interests of our businesses and our citizens and will protect them in the future," Peskov said.
According to him, the actions of Germany and other Western countries "absolutely devalue the investment attractiveness of these countries and, of course, have very profound consequences for those who make such decisions".
