Opposition politician’s son arrested in Armenia
The former head of the special services, opposition politician Artur Vanetsyan's son has been arrested in Armenia.
Patrolmen of the first regiment of the second battalion of the Armenian Police Patrol Service noticed a Honda car parked on the sidewalk in the unauthorised, pedestrian part of Abovyan Street on June 13 at about 12:30 (GMT+4), Caliber.Az reports referring to the Armenian media.
The patrol officers urged the driver to remove the car from that place, however, the driver and passenger not only disobeyed the patrol officers but refused to show the corresponding documents, after which they began to beat the patrol officers and damage the patrol car.
A decision was made to detain these people suspected of “use of violence against a civil servant” and intentional damage to property, these individuals were taken to the Central Police Department.
According to the Armenian media, the matter rests in brothers, residents of Yerevan, 22-year-old S. Vanetsyan and 17-year-old D. Vanetsyan. S. Vanetsyan was detained upon the decision of the investigator of the Investigative Committee.
The brothers are the sons of the leader of the Fatherland opposition party Artur Vanetsyan.
