Pakistan Army Chief heads to Tehran for Iran–US mediation efforts
Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir is heading to Tehran as Islamabad continues its diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between the United States and Iran.
Munir is expected to play a mediating role in the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran focused on regional security and de-escalation efforts, IRNA reports.
The visit comes amid intensified diplomatic activity surrounding Iran-US talks, with Pakistan increasingly positioning itself as an intermediary between the two sides.
Reports indicate that Munir is expected to hold meetings with senior Iranian officials during the visit as part of efforts to advance dialogue and reduce regional tensions.
On May 20, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran for his second visit to Iran in less than a week
Pakistan has been actively involved in backchannel diplomacy in recent months, with senior Pakistani officials participating in mediation initiatives related to ceasefire efforts and broader negotiations between Iran and the United States.
