Pakistani PM pays tribute to Azerbaijani heroism with wreath-laying ceremony at Victory Park PHOTO
On February 24, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan visited the Victory Park in Baku, where he was greeted by a guard of honour.
During his visit, Prime Minister Sharif laid a wreath at the Victory Monument, paying tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Azerbaijani people during the Patriotic War.
He was also briefed on the significance of the park, which serves to honour the valour of the Azerbaijani people and the memory of those who gave their lives in the conflict. The park is a tribute to Azerbaijan's historic victory in the 44-day war.
At the entrance of the park stands the Victory Arch, a monumental structure symbolizing the victory. The arch stands 44 meters high, and 22 meters wide, and is adorned with 44 columns, marking the scale of the war's significance.
The park was officially inaugurated on November 8, 2024, by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, as part of the nation's commemoration of its hard-won victory.
Prime Minister Sharif arrived in Azerbaijan on the same day for a state visit, where an official welcome ceremony was held in his honour. Following the ceremony, President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Sharif held bilateral talks in both limited and expanded formats.
In addition, a formal document exchange ceremony was held, where signed agreements between Azerbaijan and Pakistan were exchanged, with the participation of both leaders. Afterwards, President Aliyev and Prime Minister Sharif addressed the press, offering statements on the strengthening of bilateral relations.
