PM: Armenia launches tender for railway to Türkiye border
Armenia has launched a tender for the construction of a railway linking the village of Akhurik to the country’s border with Türkiye, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, as Yerevan moves forward with plans to restore regional transport connectivity.
“We have already announced a tender in connection with the restoration of the Akhurik railway. We will build it in Armenia with our own funds. Russia will not do it — this is our property,” he said, according to Armenian media reports, cited by Caliber.Az.
The prime minister added that the railway initiative forms part of a broader framework referred to as the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity,” a project aimed at enhancing infrastructure links and regional cooperation.
“In 2026, projects should begin to be implemented on the ground. Both I and President [US Donald] Trump are eager,” he said.
