PM: Armenia moves to dissolve OSCE Minsk Group
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed that Armenia intends to initiate discussions on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, the international negotiation format co-chaired by Russia, the US and France.
Pashinyan made these remarks in an interview with Public TV Company of Armenia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"We have said that there are issues that are open for discussion and others that are not. Among those that can be discussed is the possibility of dissolving the OSCE Minsk Group. Let me reiterate. The issue of dissolving the Minsk Group is open for discussion. We intend to initiate discussions on this matter soon," Pashinyan said.
However, Pashinyan did not specify whether Yerevan is prepared to agree to the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group before or after the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has long called for the official dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and its associated structures, citing the need for a new approach to address regional issues more effectively.
Previously, Pashinyan had set a political objective of drafting a new constitution that would be "organically linked to the citizens of Armenia."
His comments come amid ongoing regional tensions, as Azerbaijan has repeatedly emphasised that obstacles — such as territorial claims enshrined in Armenia’s constitution and the country's stance on the OSCE Minsk Group — must be resolved for a peace agreement to be finalized between Baku and Yerevan.
