He noted that contacts between representatives of the two countries have significantly intensified, including those at the highest levels.
He said that a key factor in the development of bilateral relations was the official visit of the Belarussian president to Iran in March 2023, as well as the meeting between the two heads of state during the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan city in October 2024.
During that meeting, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko invited his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, to visit Minsk.
"We look forward to and confirm our readiness to welcome the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran for an official visit to Belarus this year," Golovchenko said.
The prime minister also highlighted the growth in mutual trade between Belarus and Iran, noting that the figures have increased several times over the past three years.
He further called for political agreements between Minsk and Tehran to be transformed into concrete economic projects.
Golovchenko reminded that during the visit of the Belarusian president to Iran, a roadmap for comprehensive cooperation for 2023-2026 was signed.
He emphasised that the task of the Belarus-Iran intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which held its latest meeting in Minsk these days, not only is to monitor the implementation of bilateral activities but also to initiate the development of new projects in the areas outlined in this roadmap.
In conclusion, he emphasised that Belarus is committed to building a stable and long-term partnership with Iran.
"We have significant reserves that we can and must tap into," the prime minister said.
In turn, the Iranian minister stated that the political relations between Minsk and Tehran have reached a new level, and that Iran’s status as an observer in the EAEU will provide a positive boost for further cooperation with Belarus and other countries in the Eurasian Economic Union.
"The transit opportunities, geographical location of our country, access to seas, and markets of third countries can provide a great opportunity for our friendly country, Belarus," he added.
