Poland wants to change procedure for electing prime minister
05 December 2023 16:54
Deputies of the Polish Sejm are planning to change the rules for voting for the candidacy of the prime minister, RMF24 reports.
As follows from the text, according to the current rules, deputies vote twice for the head of the Polish government: first, the Sejm elects the prime minister by personal vote, after which he delivers his keynote speech, and the deputies again choose the head of government and the composition of the cabinet of ministers proposed by him.
The material notes that it is not entirely clear “why the Sejm needs to elect a prime minister twice.” According to RMF24, parliamentarians intend to vote for the prime minister only once, and with the second vote, they will approve the composition of the government.
