President Aliyev: Azerbaijan's land borders to remain closed for as long as necessary
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the country's land borders will remain closed for as long as necessary,
He made the remark on Friday at a meeting dedicated to the results of the first half of 2022, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
"Unfortunately, the World Health Organization has disseminated information about the need to resume the mask regime in some countries. Of course, we are monitoring this trend. During the most difficult times of the pandemic, we also were closed, and then opened when the situation improved. Our land borders are closed and should be closed. For what? So that people don't get sick. Because this disease spreads most of all across land borders. That's why we keep the borders closed. We will keep the borders closed as long as necessary - we are talking about land borders," the head of state said.
According to him, this is done in order to protect the health of citizens.
"We do this in order to protect people's health, we don't want to lose people. This is our goal," he stressed.
