Leading Romanian media outlets have extensively covered the historic peace agreement signed in Washington between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, brokered by US President Donald Trump.
The news portal Stiripesurse reported that during the signing ceremony, President Ilham Aliyev praised Donald Trump’s pivotal role in restoring peace to the region and proposed nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize. It was noted that the Armenian side also supported this initiative, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The publication Bursa emphasised that the White House agreement ended a conflict lasting over 35 years and opened new avenues for regional cooperation.
G4Media presented video footage of the signing ceremony, highlighting the formal atmosphere of the meeting facilitated by Trump and the sincere demeanour of the leaders.
The news portal Antena3 called the event a miracle, stressing that the signing carries not only political but also historical significance.
News.ro reported that the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia plan to submit a joint nomination of Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The newspaper Evz.ro underscored that the Nobel nomination strengthens the symbolic significance of the Washington meeting and serves as international recognition of Trump’s diplomatic efforts.
Romanian media unanimously agreed that the document signed in Washington marks a crucial step toward ensuring long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus, with the Nobel initiative serving as a symbolic marker of this historic agreement.
