Presidential aide hails Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan brotherhood through Nizami and Navoi's poetic legacy

Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, recently shared a video on the social media platform X.
 
In this video, he highlights the enduring friendship between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan through the poetic dialogues of Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi.
The video emphasizes the deep-rooted bond between the two nations, celebrating their connection through these illustrious literary figures.
 
"Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan centuries-old brotherhood and friendship through poetry dialogue of Nizami Ganjavi and Alisher Navoi," he wrote, as per Caliber.Az.
 
Nizami Ganjavi, born in 1141 in Ganja, Azerbaijan, stands as a monumental figure in Azerbaijani literature. Renowned for his intricate rhyme schemes, rich symbolism, and profound philosophical insights, Nizami's poetry reflects both the cultural and intellectual life of the medieval era and contributes significantly to Azerbaijani national identity.
 
In Azerbaijan, he is venerated as a cultural icon, with numerous monuments, cultural events, and educational institutions bearing his name. His influence permeates various aspects of Azerbaijani culture, including music, visual arts, and folklore, illustrating his lasting impact on both national and global stages.

Alisher Navoi (1441–1501) is equally esteemed in Central Asian literature as a preeminent poet and philosopher. His contributions to Uzbek and Persian literature have profoundly shaped the cultural and literary landscape of Central Asia. Navoi's role as a statesman under the Timurid Empire allowed him to foster a thriving cultural environment, supporting the arts and literature.

His works, celebrated for their complex language and deep philosophical themes, are studied for their literary excellence. In Uzbekistan, Navoi is honoured as a national hero and a symbol of the country's rich literary heritage, with numerous institutions and cultural centres named after him. His legacy continues to resonate, reflecting his significant impact on Central Asian culture and beyond.
