The Kars–Iğdır–Dilucu railway, connecting Türkiye to the border with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, is expected to serve as a major driver of regional cooperation and economic development, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on August 22.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new railway in Iğdır province, Erdoğan stressed the strategic significance of the railway along the Zangezur Corridor, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He noted that the project will enhance exports, stimulate production, and support tourism growth in southeastern Anatolia, as well as in Türkiye’s mediterranean region.
The president also highlighted that expanding railway links between Türkiye, Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia will further strengthen regional trade and economic integration.
