Pundit: US-Azerbaijan-Armenia ties key to regional cooperation
Strengthening US relations with Azerbaijan and Armenia contributes to the development of regional cooperation, Senior Director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center John Herbst said.
He made remarks at the session "Assessing the Washington Summit: Implications for US-Azerbaijan Relations" at the 1st Azerbaijan–United States Think Tank Forum in Baku, adding that the Joint Statement signed in Washington on August 8 creates conditions for mutual concessions and advances the interests of both Baku and Yerevan, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Today, the Trump administration is seriously focused on the South Caucasus and Central Asia,” Herbst stated.
He added that Washington is working to strengthen relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, which in turn supports the development of regional ties, economic cooperation and security interaction.
The director also stressed the importance of normalising relations between Türkiye and Armenia for the stability of the entire region.
The forum is currently taking place in Baku as the first-ever Azerbaijan–US Think Tank Forum, bringing together leading experts and policy analysts from both countries under the theme “Shared Perspectives: Azerbaijan–US Dialogue for Strategic Partnership.”
The programme features sessions on the Washington Summit’s impact on bilateral relations, the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace process, and regional energy security, while participants are discussing ways to deepen strategic cooperation and foster stability across the wider Eurasian region.
