Putin leads in Russian presidential election After processing 80% of voting protocols
Russian presidential candidate and incumbent president Vladimir Putin is leading in the 2024 presidential elections, gaining 87.15 per cent of the votes as a result of processing 80 per cent of the voting protocols.
Candidate from the Communist Party Nikolai Kharitonov, who received 4.22 per cent of the votes, ranked second, followed by candidate from the New People Party Vladislav Davankov with 4.04 per cent of votes. Candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) Leonid Slutsky with 3.16 per cent of the votes ranked fourth, TASS reports citing the data published on the information board at the Russian Central Election Commission.
Thus, Putin is winning the elections. The second round will not be held. To win the election in the first round, a candidate must receive more than a half of the votes of those who took part in the voting. If none of the candidates receives such votes, then a second round of elections is held after 21 days.
