Putin's press chief: Europe shows no interest in security dialogue
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Europe is currently oriented toward confrontation and is exhibiting militaristic sentiments, showing no desire for dialogue on security issues.
He made this comment to journalists when asked about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s proposal for a strategic agreement between Europe and Russia, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to Peskov, there are currently no signs or indications of any potential agreements with Europe in the field of collective security.
He emphasised that European countries continue to maintain a belligerent rhetoric and are not sending any signals of readiness to seek common ground.
For the record, relations between Russia and the European Union have deteriorated sharply since the start of the conflict in Ukraine in February 2022. The EU has imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on Moscow, targeting its economy, energy exports, and political elites. In response, Russia has accused the EU of abandoning diplomacy and pursuing a confrontational agenda aligned with U.S. and NATO interests.
