School evacuated in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region after bomb threat
A school in the village of Pyshma in Russia’s Sverdlovsk region was urgently evacuated on February 3 following a reported bomb threat.
All students and staff were taken out of the building, while security forces blocked the surrounding road, Russian media writes, citing the school administration.
The administration said the evacuation was triggered by a message sent to the school’s secretary claiming that the building had been mined. The message warned of serious consequences if the school was not evacuated and children were not removed from the premises within two and a half hours.
School officials reported that the information was immediately forwarded to the head of the Pyshma municipal district and his deputies, who initiated emergency procedures and contacted relevant services. Emergency responders are currently inspecting the building, and the results of the search have not yet been announced.
Police and emergency services are working at the scene, with ambulance crews on standby.
