Romanian president urges to boost NATO's Black Sea presence
03 April 2023 16:55
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has called for increasing NATO's presence in the Black Sea region.
He made the statement following a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Reuters reported.
Last December, the Romanian parliament backed the creation of a North Atlantic Alliance battlegroup of allies in the country.
Earlier, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis had asked parliamentarians to approve the initiative. In his address, he explained that establishing a NATO battlegroup in the country would enhance the Alliance's defence capabilities, as well as strengthen the strategic partnership with France and improve relations with Belgium and the Netherlands
