Russia’s Rostec enhances Armenian air navigation by installing radio beacon near Sisian
The Russian state corporation Rostec has delivered an all-directional VOR/DME 2700 radio beacon to Armenia, designed to support navigation in challenging mountainous terrain.
The equipment has been installed in the vicinity of the town of Sisian, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The device will help pilots navigate more accurately during landing approaches, particularly in conditions of limited visibility and rugged terrain.
The radio beacon is recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as a means of enhancing flight safety.
The VOR/DME 2700 radio beacon is a ground-based navigation system used in civil aviation to enhance flight safety, particularly in challenging environments. It combines VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Range), which provides directional guidance, and DME (Distance Measuring Equipment), which gives pilots the distance to the station, enabling precise navigation and landing approaches.
Designed for use in mountainous or low-visibility conditions, the VOR/DME 2700 helps improve situational awareness and is recommended by the ICAO as a standard tool for safe air navigation.
