Armenia, Iran hold regular political consultations in Yerevan
The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Iran conducted their regular political consultations in Yerevan. The meetings were co-led by Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the discussions covered a wide range of bilateral issues, as well as regional and international developments. Both sides highlighted the active dynamics of cooperation between the two countries, reflected in frequent mutual visits at various levels, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The officials reaffirmed their commitment, previously expressed by their respective leaders, to elevate Armenia-Iran relations to a strategic partnership. They exchanged views on potential cooperation in sectors including energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, and on the progress of ongoing programs.
Kostanyan also discussed projects aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, noting new opportunities expected from the implementation of the TRIPP project.
Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), also known as the Zangezur Corridor, is a major regional infrastructure project aimed at linking mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave via Armenia’s Syunik region.
The project was formalised on August 8, 2025, in Washington through a declaration signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, together with US President Donald Trump.
