Russia strikes critical targets in Ukraine with Oreshnik missile system VIDEO
The Russian Ministry of Defence announced that overnight, Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive strike using long-range precision weapons, both land- and sea-based, against critical targets in Ukraine.
According to the ministry, “the strike was conducted in response to a terrorist attack by the Kyiv regime on the residence of the President of the Russian Federation in the Novgorod region, which took place on the night of December 29, 2025,” Caliber.Az reports.
The operation, the ministry said, involved the mobile ground-based medium-range missile system Oreshnik, as well as attack drones.
The Defence Ministry emphasised that the objectives were achieved: “Facilities producing unmanned aerial vehicles used in the terrorist attack, as well as energy infrastructure supporting Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, were destroyed.”
On December 29, 2025, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov alleged that Ukrainian forces carried out a large-scale drone strike on President Vladimir Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod region, asserting that all drones were intercepted and cautioning that the incident would influence Moscow’s negotiating position.
In response, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy firmly rejected the allegation, labelling it a fabrication intended to sabotage ongoing peace talks with the United States and warning that Russia could exploit the incident as a justification for additional attacks, possibly targeting Kyiv.
