Russia takes over BRICS chairmanship from January 1

From January 1, Russia becomes the BRICS chairman country with five more members joining the union.

On January 1, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE will join the union. Argentina was also supposed to join BRICS, but after the victory of Javier Miley in the presidential election, Buenos Aires announced its reluctance to join this organization, Interfax reports.

On December 29, Argentine media reported that the Argentine authorities sent letters to the leaders of all BRICS countries to inform them about the decision not to join the association.
