Russia to open new consulate general in Armenia soon
The opening of a new Russian consulate general in Armenia is planned in the near future, Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov said.
"Decisions have already been made and agreed upon with the authorities of the host states on the opening of... consulates general in Gafan (Armenia), Aktau (Kazakhstan), Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Denpasar (Indonesia) and Male (Maldives)," Ivanov told kp.ru.
The Consulate General in Gafan - the administrative centre of Syunik (Zangezur - ed.) region in the south of Armenia (bordering Iran and Azerbaijan), will become the second consulate general of the Russian Federation in Armenia after Gyumri.
Earlier, the Russian government approved the relevant agreement. The Armenian side also gave its consent. Specific terms of the opening of the consulate general have not been announced.
